Dr. Krista Steffenhagen
Owner & Medical Director
Nicole Dunn
Veterinary Assistant
Dr. Krista Steffenhagen graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 and brings with her over a decade of business ownership experience. She is the owner and medical director of Scandia Veterinary Clinic and also serves as a partner at North Branch Veterinary Clinic.
She is dedicated to providing thoughtful, well-rounded veterinary services that support both preventive health and advanced medical needs, with particular interests in dentistry, surgery, internal medicine, and weight management.
Dr. Krista and her family live in May Township, where they own and operate a horse boarding business. Outside of work, she stays busy cheering on her kids at sporting events, caring for their property and garden, baking sourdough, and tending to a lively mix of animals that includes two horses, four cats, and a flock of chickens.
Nicole has been a full-time member of this veterinary team for over 25 years and has truly valued the relationships she's built with both our clients and their pets over the years.
Growing up in a large farming family, Nicole has developed a love for animals early on, spending much of her childhood caring for calves, cats and chickens. Outside of the clinic, Nicole has been married for 21 years and a proud mom to Morgan and Colten. At home, they also have two yellow labs, Buckley and Bullzye(yes spelled with a z per her daughter naming him). In her free time she enjoys camping, relaxing by the lake, and soaking up the summer sun.
Nicole’s energetic spirit and love for animals help our clinical team stay focused while making our patients feel at ease.

Mr. Purrfect
Clinic Cat
Stacy joined Scandia Veterinary Clinic in October 2006. She graduated from Globe College/MN School of Business in 2003 with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology.
Outside of work, Stacy enjoys spending time with family & friends, reading, binging older TV shows, and watching movies (especially the scary ones).
Getting to know both pets and their owners over the years is something Stacy truly treasures.
With years of technical expertise, Stacy ensures that our hospital care and anesthesia protocols are handled with the utmost precision.
Mr. Purrfect joined Scandia Veterinary Clinic in 2013 after being found roaming Oakhill Road in front of the clinic as a kitten. And he never left.
As an older gentleman now, he enjoys spending his days napping and is very insistent on getting his pets.
